“Lively and noisy festivities.”

Revelry is a recent addition to the Lorong Kilat neighbourhood. The circus themed cafe was opened by three siblings, with their speciality being in savoury Belgian waffles. Along with a wide array of various waffle offerings, they also have in-house created desserts, with a few that are made by one of the siblings & a few made by their mother. Not only is this place a family-friendly cafe, it’s also a family business!

Aesthetic
The whole cafe is designed to be very much like a circus-themed establishment. Wanting to shun away from the idea of clowns (which are kinda freaky really…), they decided to make the main mascot of their circus-themed cafe an elephant. Along with a few extremely colourful & fantastic murals of elephants on their walls, the whole interior is filled with hanging lanterns, a wonderful sight for kids & adults alike. (“And at last I see the light.” Scene from Tangled, anyone? No?) I must admit that after going to 9 out of 10 cafes which are industrial-vintage-blah-blah and whatnot, Revelry was a huge breath of fresh air.

The menu here is pretty interestingly designed. (Unfortunately, taking each individual page & uploading them here is a tad nuts, so I do apologize for a lack of menu for your perusing.)

Food
As mentioned earlier, Revelry specializes in savoury Belgian waffles. The waffles here are vastly different from your usual buttermilk ones that you can find almost everywhere. Here, the waffles are lighter & much more crispy, with a slight savoury flavour; something like deep-fried dough. You’ll find that their menu consists of mostly their Belgian waffles, with an array of different pre-selected toppings & fillings for each choice. Along with their waffles, they also have some starters & a few desserts that are made in-house.

Prices here are slightly towards the higher average, with each waffle priced around 16 bucks. Though if I remembered correctly, there is no GST or service charge here.

Green Tea Latte ($5.50) When I first tasted the green tea latte here, it was pretty good. It wasn't too sweet & it wasn't too thick. After drinking half of it though, I started to find that the flavour of coffee seems to be lacking & it was like I was just drinking green tea milk. (Not sure if it was because the taste of the waffles watered down the latte after a while.) In any case, it's not the worst latte I've had, and the latte art was pretty nice anyway.

Truffle Fries ($7.50) I didn't want to eat JUST waffles, hence I decided to order the truffle fries here. Though I have to admit that I'm bored of the dish, the fries here were as good as those overpriced ones you get from other cafes. Delicious shoestring fries, flavoured with truffle & topped with Parmesan cheese.

The Original ($6) Topped with Icing Sugar, Maple Syrup, Butter My companion decided to go for this. A part of me died when she did as I felt that she chose the most boring waffle choice of all. (Not even an ice-cream!) Mind you, the menu here have such fancy waffles, ordering anything but is kinda crazy. Nonetheless, their savoury Belgian waffles here are good enough to eat by itself. (And to each his own, ain't it?)

Chicken & Waffles ($16) Ah, the best soul food you can ever get. Fried chicken & waffles! This was pretty much the reason for my visit to Revelry; having seen this all over Instagram. It tasted simply fantastic. The fried chicken thigh was tender & really juicy, which complemented their savoury Belgian waffles extremely well. The only other place that can rival this, would probably be The Beast. The one at Sin Lee Foods is pretty good as well, but their chicken is marinated with prawn paste, hence I feel that it's on another league on its own.

On Cloud Nine ($15) Lemon Curd, Toasted Marshmallows, Candy Floss, Vanilla Ice-cream This was another dish that enticed me to visit Revelry. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love the colour blue. Hence, when I saw the blue candy floss on the waffle, I was SOLD. I was so focused on the blue cotton candy that I totally forgot that the waffle had lemon curd. How do I describe this waffle? One word.... AMAZING. The lemon curd worked wonders with the ice-cream, marshmallows & cotton candy. The flavours recreated was basically similar to Lemon Meringue (Which I have mentioned in a previous review a while back that it's my current favourite taste/flavour.) The sourness of the lemon curd is balanced by the overall sweetness which made the whole dish simply divine. (You'll seriously be on cloud nine after eating.)

At The End of A Rainbow ($8.50) Homemade Flower Pot Tiramisu To be honest, I've recently had quite a bit of pot Tiramisus & was getting quick sick of them. (Have yet to blog about those other places yet. Oops.) I didn't want to leave without trying at least one of their homemade desserts, and after seeing this popularized on Instagram, I decided to go for it. I didn't regret my decision though, the Tiramisu here is quite delicious. The ratio of cream to cake was perfect. I was also told that it was made by the mother of the three siblings. (Kudos to Mom!) (Another interesting thing to note was that the flower they used for it was REAL. I was quite surprised actually, I thought it was fake. The other pot Tiramisus I've had all used fake flowers.)

Another one of the amazing elephant murals. A fantastic spot for all your OOTD and/or Instagramming.

Side signboard of Revelry, you won't miss it when you're walking down the row of shops. (First thing I spotted while trying to look for the place.)

Worth A Visit/Revisit?
I really liked the whole concept of Revelry, not just their circus-themed design but their delicious savoury Belgian waffles as well. Though the place is located in quite a secluded neighbourhood, it’s definitely worth heading down to try those awesome waffles. The people there are quite friendly as well. Fantastic decor, great food, good service, what are you waiting for?
